The lyrics of "Northern spring (kitaguni no haru)" that popular in more than 30 years ago there is a Kobushi (Magnolia kobus) blossoms. At that time it had listened to without knowing what blossoms, it is a blossoms that is reminiscent of the spring. Does not bear fruit in kobushi of Edo street. Might be a triploids. If you look at the fruit that resembles a fist (in Japanese "kobushi"), hence the name can be understood.
