羽黒蜻蛉（はぐろとんぼ）の雌（上の2枚）と雄（下の2枚）。

レンズの焦点距離が400mm（下の画像は800mm相当にクロップ）、被写体から2mくらいの距離で撮影しているので実効焦点距離は300mm以下になっていると思われる。DXフォーマットで1/2クロップなので、画角としては35mm版の1200mm相当（400×1.5×2）、実際には600mmという計算になる。遠景を焦点距離400mm、DXフォーマットで撮れば、ほぼ600mm相当になる。

蝶は、まだ見かけるが、最近蜻蛉の姿を見かけなくなったような気がする。写真は庭にやってきた褄黒豹紋（つまぐろひょうもん）の雌。

庭に出ると褄黒豹紋や紋黄蝶、大和小灰蝶が近くに飛んできた。これはチャンスと思い部屋に戻ってカメラを持ってくると、どれも居ない。諦めていると並揚羽が柚子の葉に産卵にやってきた。飛行中の1枚しか撮れず、しかも手前にピントが合っている。

青銅金虫（あおどうがねむし）。似たものに金蚉（かなぶん）、黄金虫（こがねむし）がいるが、それぞれ緑がかった銅色、光沢のある緑色をしている。青銅金虫は鈍い光沢の緑である。
この時期になると寿命が尽きた青銅金虫をよく見かける。
